Meet the Adults
Hi, I'm Mr Mills!
Hello. I’m Mr Mills and I teach the Year 5 and 6 in Class 4. I really enjoy helping children achieve their best, especially when they do not realise just how good they can be. It is great seeing someone be surprised at what they suddenly become able to do when they just didn’t think that they could do it.
In Class 4, children are encouraged to ‘Dare to Fail’. This means that having a go at something and getting it wrong is absolutely fine. We learn by making mistakes and working out what we have done wrong. We all make mistakes, every one of us, but those who make the most progress use these mistakes to make themselves better.
Away from school, I live with a partner who is also a teacher – she teaches maths in a grammar school. I have also live with my two children, one who is currently in Year 9 and the other who is in Year 5. I love playing, watching and coaching football. I support greatest team in the world – Derby County FC! If you don’t agree, I’m sure you can learn from your mistake after a little persuasion and improvement in your knowledge J
I also love to get outside. I love walking in the Peak District and my family and I like to spend time collecting Geocaches wherever we go. I love to travel abroad and have be to France twice, Spain and Northern Ireland over the past year, as well as visiting Wales, Scotland various other places across Great Britain too. When I’m at home, I love getting out into the garden, planting, weeding and doing all of the other jobs that makes our outside space come to life.
I think one of my greatest achievements in climbing Mount Snowdon three times in three consecutive days to raise money for a good cause. This was so hard, especially the third time, but I managed it!
